The system is working to determine the cause of the incident and restore safe operation. The disruption caused delays, overcrowding at stations, and inconvenience for users who depend on this route daily. A power cut was implemented on Line 4 of the Metro CDMX to allow system personnel to inspect the track area after a short circuit occurred as a train passed, in order to determine the cause. Service operates from Martín Carrera to Consulado; from Canal del Norte to Santa Anita, it remains suspended. No injuries have been officially reported so far. This new incident comes just a day after a flash was registered at Salto del Agua station on Line 1, also attributed to a short circuit. According to the Metro Collective Transport System itself, the event on Wednesday, April 8, was caused by an object on the tracks that, upon making contact with a passing train, generated an electrical failure and a glow accompanied by smoke. Videos shared on social media showed the moment users moved away from the risk point after observing an orange flash in the tunnel amid confusion.
